I just learned that the funny (to me) (and you) un-PC profile page joke about those who argue on the net being like retarded people competing in the Special Olympics was the subject yesterday of some discussion here. BTW, the vast majority of adult Americans (not children) are, in my considerable experience, models of kindness and sensitivity toward the mentally retarded. (To the point of over-kindness and over-sensitivity, in fact; intentions are good, though.) This is not true in all cultures.
