When a book transcends the merely good and makes that small list of "great", I try not to even watch the movie. "To Kill A Mockingbird" is one of those books. It was too good; I skipped the movie altogether. Garp I did see the movie, and I thought that was one of the few good books that worked as a movie, mainly due to Robin Williams.

I haven't gone back to Gatsby, maybe I should give it another try.

Question for the thread: I have an advanced 10-year old reader at home. She craves reading, sneaks off to read whenever she gets a chance. Is "To Kill A Mockingbird" age appropriate for a ten year old. My recollection is yes, but it's been awhile since I read it and I don't remember now what age is a good age for a kid to read it. I think I was about 15 or 16 when I read it.
