I'm not cynical enough to believe that supreme court justices pay more heed to party affiliations than general matters of justice.

I'm not naive enough to believe that there wasn't just an eensy bit of pressure brought, a la "all those Dems are unethical", by the Republican opposition.

It's simply politics as usual, IMO, ugly on both sides.
