I didn't know, and wasn't sure I had the test right, but put it into google, and among the hits was this:

bloodsafety.gc.ca

so it's about blood volume, or something like that.

"Hematocrit" is defined as the percentage of whole blood that is comprised of red blood cells, but I think that's not the same thing.

Whatever it is, it's the test her father knew would reveal whether she was bleeding internally or not, which her symptoms suggested to him was the case.

My friend asked V's husband if they were going to sue, and he said he guessed they'd be guided by his father-in-law (her father) in that. She's very sick, in intensive care, so I imagine there will be a suit.
