Life is so simple. People are people regardless of the year and they always act in their own self interest. As I've said before, this current manipulation ties into the November elections.

It had to be done. Last week, 401k reports for the 3rd Quarter came out for most companies. Without a quick, significant upward move, fed-up 401k investors would have thrown in the towel and cashed out. Money managers responded and bought. Now, 401k investors are paralyzed: they're asking "Is this the end of the bear market?" Money managers can now hold-off on selling a portion of their portfolios to meet redemptions.

The latest move involves institutions, not retail buyers. Why would individual investors buy? What could possibly be the impetus? Until the retail investor returns, the bear market is fully intact.
