Whats really sad is when folks can't just discuss the issue and let the readership decide how they feel about the presented positions.

When they discuss... But too many people just come by to inflict a "drive by" rhetorical comment and don't stick around to back it up or debate the point...

They usually just adopt an elitist "you'll never understand" or assign you some kind of label as a right-wing nut..

Well baby (rhetorically speaking.. :0), I want to understand people's positions.. And I want them to be able to explain it to me in a logical form... And the only label I want to have assigned to me is that of a "pragmatist".. Someone who can perceive a problem and apply the best solution, no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from..

But most of all, I want people to engage in discussions, not demagoguery.. or just posting some pundit's propaganda without thoroughly analyzing it for holes.. It's fine to find an article that you identified with, but then explain to everyone else what really caught your attention...

If a discussion thread is required to politely "ignore" inflammatory rhetoric in the interest of "positive tone", what good is the discussion?? I guess I can post inflammatory stuff too... and we'll just propagadize the thread with stuff from the far left and far right..

Personally, I'm beginning to believe that the "liberal" participants on the FADG thread can't justify why they are liberal.. probably can't even explain their "liberal" values...

I think the majority of them are really "anti-conservative or anything that smells of it"... People who have more criticisms than alternatives. People who cast more heat than light...

And that's not a "discussion" worth having...

Many of these people, should Ken open up the thread again, I'm probably just going to put on ignore.
