The idea of having laws that reflect the other country is something I've long advocated in trade. I truely believe the US would be best suited by what I call rubber laws in trade. Whatever barriers any country puts on doing trade with the US, we will automatically slap back on them, specifically. If Japan has crazy laws which make it difficult to get cars to go from the US to Japan, those exact laws should be applied by the US towards any Japanese auto import into the US. Let's face it, the US is the market every other country wants to export to and if we treated them exactly like they treat us the trading game and the US GDP would be vastly different than it is today.
