JRTC is a (expletive deleted)... I did two iterations down there at Ft. Polk as a "force protection" team leader.. And I can tell you that the OPFOR is ruthless... One brigade I went with suffered 1300 casualities within one week... And the MILES laser training system is the closest thing to really being shot at that I think can be instilled into training. That said, the OPFOR are trained to act fanatically, ignoring their own losses at times (at least in my opinion). Thus, I think a bit of psychological uncertainty is lacking on their side, which would be evident in a real urban combat situation... I also didn't have any evidence that OPFOR used coercive measures to control the population, as is normally the case in insurgencies and oppressed societies. Thus, they don't have to watch their "backsides" as much as the US side does with regard to interacting with the civilian "role players" who represent the residents of these towns. I don't see the US taking a combat situation into an urban environment in Iraq. I believe we would just besieged the cities and wait for the inevitable revolt by the people against Saddam.. They key will be having a replacement government to offer to which Iraqis feel comfortable with. Hawk
