<<My father even risked my life to fight Britain's and America's war against Germany>>
<Hey, mate, the Jerries started that brawl. They declared war on us FIRST. What were we supposed to do, laugh and walk away?>

Actually, NZ declared war on Germany before Britain did and a year or two before the USA, which hid behind the Atlantic, with King George II's grandad apparently supplying Germany until some law was brought in to stop that.

The USA only got involved after Japan opposed USA restrictions by sneaking up on Pearl Harbour and letting rip.

<Maybe you haven't noticed, but the US has resigned from most of its empire too.>

This site is under construction...

BTW, I agree that killing Osama's mob was a good idea and Guantanamo Bay was a good idea as a place to store them and suspected thems while they were sorted out. NZ troops were there on the ground, up in the mountains, doing some of the serious work.

My point was more that I suspect that it will become a permanent installation and could evolve into something a bit less in harmony with the way to run an empire. Slippery slopes are slippery. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Stuff like that.
