Apologies if this was posted in an earlier and more timely manner. I ran across this here but can't verify the source at the Chronicle site because the story is over a year old.

Muskegon, Michigan (Muskegon Chronicle):

A US man is alleged to have blown up his Michigan home while sniffing propane gas and smoking marijuana.

Brian Allen Miller has been charged with unlawful possession or use of a harmful device causing property damage.

If found guilty he could receive a maximum jail term of 20 years.

It's reported Miller was in his bedroom with a 20-pound propane cylinder when the vapours ignited after he lit up a joint.

The explosion ripped through his former Muskegon home on July 16, blowing part of it off its foundations.

It started a fire which destroyed the building and damaged two neighbouring houses. Miller has since moved to another house.

The 40-year-old escaped with minor burns while his 15-year-old daughter, 20-year-old son and a 19-year-old guest, escaped without injury.

Prosecutor Tony Tague said: "If there was a charge for ignorance, this would be appropriate."

Bail was set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing was set for August 9, reports the Muskegon Chronicle
