Go back to the original post and see that I was talking about Gamal Abdul Nasser. Do a Google search on the guy to see how "populist" he was, how he changed Egypt's constitution to say it is an "Arab socialist country" in 1971, and what his problems were with the west.

Literacy rate of 51% in Egypt is obviously not ideal but it has nothing to do with the fact that there was, at one point, an administration who tried to be socialist and got into massive problems with USA and UK because of it, to the extent that the agents of MI6 were obsessed with conjuring elaborate schemes, including plots to assassinate Egyptian leader Gamal Abdul Nasser (with poisoned chocolates) :))

Anyway, do your research. It's all there on the internet.
