Great Llama...Please accept my apologizes for being away for several days now, but as I have stated before, it is a very busy time for me during the summer months with the children free of their obligation to what passes for school these days. I received a very polite E-Mail, off line, from someone who follows this thread, but obviously does not participate. He presented himself as "from the left" and proceeded to rub my nose in a littany of free market failures...names such as Coolidage, Hoover and Attila come to mind as I look back on the missive. You don't operate under an alias now do you? Nonetheless, I always enjoy private "hate mail", especially when they accuse me of being a folower of the University of Chicago school of Economics....beat me, whip me....I've been punished among lesser folks.
Now to the serious...In this week's Barron's (p. 46) is a breif discussion of Wyndam Hotels (WYN-NYSE). Recommended by Banker's Trust. I find this a most intriguing(or is htat intreeeging) stock to follow. In times of decline (BELIEVE), such a firm would do quite well in an expansion of their business. Those with wealth are always looking for the next Four Seasons and a bear dosen't really have impact on thier spending. This might well be sometrhing to follow. I myself would do so, but as you know, I'm basically a commodities freak. Besides, I have to start building a house in Ottawa in about ten months...my ex-patriot days grow near. Check it out. It's not too far from "retail" now is it?
Ziggy moved out of the garage and settled on the left side o of the driveway last Saturday. Having done well in the quick move of the Swiss Franc recently...I assumed he was talking gold again. Just got confirmation on 2 more options in Dec gold...400 strike. Unless you are into shorting the stock market, suggest you may consider doing the same. As always, your respectful student, Grasshopper.
PS> I must say that I do take a bit of pride in the fact that others on this line have come to call you, "Llama." I think it also significant that Ziggy never leaves his resting place when a Postal worker arrives. He is Hell on the Fed Ex guy though. |
