Correct me if I am wrong: isn't "I am not going to shoot you or knife you", after intrusion into a car, already a death threat, aggravated by a possible kidnapping underway ? And if so, the police does not move!?

I understand that the fact that the "assailant" asked where you were going, somehow saves his ass.

But still: weren't you legally allowed to defend yourself with whatever means you had around ?
