My supposition is this whole run-up is tied in with the Xmas spending season, to induce Americans to get further in debt, and after that, then what? What is the next crutch?

William:

The good retail sales this past weekend were generated by big markdowns... So, while top line numbers look good, the margins are being squeezed... This could lead to a disappointing bottom line in January... If that happens, the retailers will have to increase their off seasonal borrowings... This could put upward pressure on interest rates... On a positive note, inventories should be thinned, resulting in less markdowns in the post holiday period...

The OEX is in a do or die position in a rising wedge pattern... The break up or down should dictate market direction for the next week...

A breakdown could set up a test in the 445 to 450 area... A breakout sets up a test in the 530 to 575 area...
