The extent to which a society exhibits a pragmatic future-oriented perspective rather than a conventional historic or short term point of view.
Masculinity (MAS)
The dominant values in society are achievement and success
(as against Femininity: The dominant values in society are caring for others and quality of life.)
Uncertainty Avoidance (UAI)
The extent to which people feel threatened by uncertainty and ambiguity and try to avoid these situations.
My ideal? Baltic states, Canada or Netherlands all tie, the Nordics, GB or US, then SA, Ireland, NZ or Australia (or Bhutan!?) al within 20 delta points.
And I'd be least comfortable in Saudi, Iraq, Venezuala, Albania or (worst of all) Guatemala. In fact South-Central America is pretty bad.
Interestingly, I scored very high on CDI, which is far more 'Eastern' - I was close to Indian or Thai levels. And and relatively low on MAS (well, it is idealised - quality of life definitely wins out over achievement at a price): Baltics match, although I was above Nordics and half the 'Anglo-Saxon economy' average level.
