Lindy.. when I lived in Arcadia ca. they used to have kids enter the school system from the far east.. Parents would come over establish living in Arcadia to get their children into the school system and leave... the kids would be kept by a housemaid. , elder etc. also my daughter told me the pressure on them to succeed was tremendous. They would study all the time , she was told they didn't want to disappointed the family and shame the parents... A few years ago their was a 60 minute special on Arcadia and the Far East parents coming here to United States , establishing residence and then going back home to work... The kids though were in our school system and being supervised by cousins etc..
