Tim was 40, according to the article. He would have been age 11 when we withdrew from Vietnam.

I feel for the innocent victim of this crime. The store owner must have seen his life flash before him as the perp approached with a drawn pistol. Probably had instant visions of his kids... and his wife, parents or siblings. As he made the daring move to defend himself, he did so knowing that he could lose his life in a gun battle with someone of unknown viciousness and unknown skill. Having 'won' the shootout, he now lives each day with the mental anguish of knowing his attacker's gun wasn't real. He goes to work each day never knowing which person entering his business will be his next attacker. And wonders whether the next will have a real weapon.

A sad situation.
