I once bought a computer from a shop that later burned down due to a static igniting some solvent.

I've heard that you should shut off your engine when pumping gas. Not sure if it's true, but I always do. And I also stand well away from the nozzle while the pump is running, just in case. I once had a friend who got doused with gasoline from a faulty pump, although it did not ignite.
