Kissinger is a practitioner of realpolitik. Things like civil rights and lives are simply an unnecessary annoyance from that viewpoint.

I don't remember you pointing out before or as soon as his name was mentioned that he had fatal conflicts of interest.

It was those conflicts that destroyed his candidacy, not his Vietnam/Cold War record, bad as that may be.
