Just got back from the office Christmas party. One of the guys there (husband of a secretary) works on an anti-fraud task force -- he says that one of the newest scams involves that "do not call" phone list.

The scamsters call old people on the list and say they are with the federal government and want to verify that the person is on the list, take their social security number, and use it for identity fraud.
