It's a tough call. We've got three dogs and they ride around in my husband's truck, but in the cab, not the open bed. I think the fact that she was left in a big parking lot next to a busy street untethered was what got me the most. And she was so sweet. You know how labs are. She would've gone home with anyone who opened their car door. My Golden loves the cold weather, but if he were confined to a small place, where he couldn't move around and get warm, I'm not sure how happy he'd be. What amazed me is that the owner, after being confronted by Animal Control, screamed all over the gym "Who reported me to the cops? It's none of your business!". He was more concerned about his rights than about his dog.
