The Biotech Stock Picking 2002 final results
(as of 20 Dec 2002 per the "1040" rule}

I have reviewed the return for all of the portfolios with
links to SI portfolios. Those links are in the revised original message of the forum.
(Some entrants did not end up providing links. Those portfolios were not reviewed.)

An overview of the results

Return # of portfolios
-20% <x <-30% 2
-30% <x <-40% 5
-40% <x <-50% 6
-50% <x <-60% 5
-60% <x <-70% 6
-70% <x <-80% 2

Tis sad year for biotech stocks that losing
the least is exemplary, so one can only hope for better next year!!!

With respect to the public portfolios:

After making the appropriate adjustment in Julius Wong's
porfolio for the GZTC->GTCB change his return is -25.2%.
siliconinvestor.com

Rick Harmon's contest portfolio return is -26.9%.

According to the rules in the original post (the "Florida Ballot" rule) portfolios are tied if the returns are within 2% of each other. Therefore, Julius and Rick are "cowinners". Congratulations to both!!

Julius' charity is the American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org).
Rick's is the Obsessive Complusive Foundation (http://www.ocfoundation.org).

For those interested in another chance at doing good by doing well the forum for the 2003 version is
Subject 53510

Best wishes to all for the holdays and the new year,
Michael
