Hello Hawkmoon,

You will remember this?:

I was most amused by the recent (early December?) article on Ritter in the New York Times Magazine by Barry Bearak, which has almost certainly been posted on this board. I haven't been following the discussion. The last paragraph in the article tells it all, and the words are quoted from Ritter.

I believe Ritter's Top Secret clearance went down the tubes (to Secret level only) when he married his Russian handler when he was a part of the monitoring and verification regime. He of course lost the Secret clearance when he left the Marines in 1995. He made a bid to join the CIA in maybe 1997 but reliable word has it he failed the poly miserably. And of course there was the FBI investigation. None of this necessarily has anything to do with his integrity, but there is a long history of what I would call very questionable judgment issues. It all catches up with you eventually, especially when you seek the spotlight. All the imperfections begin to show.

Scott has done very well milking his tenure as an inspector to keep the money flowing. His furrowed brow and stentorian voice and black and white pronouncements make good press and TV. Not really, but they help CNN and Fox fill up some air time. And Scott recharges his speaking engagement calendar. If the New York News report is true and prompts further digging, Ritter could face questions unrelated to the war effort. Maybe his next book could be titled "The Two Faces of Scott Ritter". Nice guy in person.
