You seem to forget that your pretentious act blew up in your face! I nailed you on it here!

"You are free to continue to spew bile and spin other's statements all you want, fortunately I don't have to read it. I am sure you will assume, incorrectly, that you have routed me when I fail to respond to posts I will not be reading"
Stop embarrassing yourself! This is not a finishing school for aspiring actors! Making a loud noise and trying for desperate misdirection will only emphasise the fact that you were caught and quartered (or was that halved...:-))
You took such pretentious care to methodically present your "mathematical" argument, but all your premises were absurdly in error!
The non DP States are NOT 1/3 of the States they are approx. 1/4! And you DON'T calculate the relative rates of homicide per 100,000 by comparing the ratios of the NUMBER of DP States versus the NUMBER of non DP States! Your entire "thought experiment" simply exposed your inability to formulate a logical presentation or interpretation of data ("invented" or otherwise ;-)).
Your numbers were wrong. They were manipulated and massaged in meaningless and absurd ways. And they were finally combined with an invention out of whole cloth to insinuate some credence to said invention out of whole cloth.
I will give you a small example in case you still cannot understand how foolish you looked with your "thought experiment". Pretend we have 4 States with 5 people each in them. We have another State with 80 people in it. The four States represent 20 % of the people--NOT 80% as your pretentious mathematical "calculations" were assuming. You stated outright that you were basing your argument on the homicide rate per 100,000. But all your subsequent meticulous and phoney "calculations" of the numeric ratio between DP and non DP States, simply showed you to be incapable of conceptualizing what you had set out to do.
You flopped around like a fish out of water. Your whole little exhibition (for that is what it was), reminded me of the Emperor's new clothes! I could not help but feel somewhat sorry for you.
Making up numbers that purport to represent meaningful data and factual ratios, but do not--THAT is DUMB. Mistaking the NUMBER of States as representative of the relative contribution they make to the homicide rate is even DUMBER. You ought to go to Hollyweird. There's a sequel waiting there for you! ::-)
Here is your "thought experiment again! What a hoot! I love how meticulous you were with the "3.3 or 3.4 homicides left". The whole pile of crap might have looked quite impressive if I had simply tossed it aside as unworthy of a response as was my first inclination.
"Thought experiment... Homicide rate = 10/100,000, 1/3 of this rate comes from non DP states, 1/2 of remaining rate (3.3) is unaffected (crimes of passion, insanity, negligent homicide {i.e. drunk driving, reckless driving, etc.} These crimes are not subject to the DP in most states and given their nature would not be subject to deterrence if they were. A guy near here was recently convicted of negligent homicide because the guy riding in the back of his truck fell out and died while he was driving recklessly. DP had no and could have no effect on his actions.) That leaves 3.3 or 3.4 homicides left that are deterrable by DP. Suppose 10% of potential premeditated murderers are deterred by the DP. That amounts an effect of .34 homicides per hundred thousand deterred. With the rate ranging between 7.9 to 10.2 an effect of .34 vanishes among the noise. That .34 represents ~85 victims per year (using 250 million as US population) that would be saved by the DP scaring potential murderers." |
