Yes, the internet can be the salvation of the world. At least it stamps on our foreheads the absolute necessity of getting along with each other. I knew that when I started communicating with people in South Africa, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Mexico, Great Britain -- we can't have that ease of communication and not learn how to get along.
A colleague introduced me to eBay, and through another one I got interested in pocket watches. I found out that the Russians make very good pocket watches and you can get them for about $30. I have quite a few with different motifs. As it turns out, my favorite dealer lives in Spokane where we hope to move when we sell this house. I hope to visit his shop.
Selling this house has been a big pain in the butt, because when we found it we had resorted to guerrilla house hunting tactics because the realtors were showing us dogs. Now the housing market has changed from a seller's to a buyer's market. We've put a lot of money in the house and it is in better shape than when we bought it, but there are too many alternatives now.
I saw people in front of the house and got them to call our realtor on their cellphone so they could see it. As it turns out, the woman is the new manager of the title company and the husband is a retired painter wallpaper hanger. Our house has a personalized color scheme and some people are looking for beige. Sounds like just the people who might buy our house, I hope!
It reminds me how miraculous the the internet is. Know what I mean? |
