Bank of Canada Raises Key Rate 25 Basis Points, Cites Inflation
Ottawa, March 4 (Bloomberg) -- The Bank of Canada raised its key lending rate to slow inflation, months after the U.S. Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the Bank of England lowered borrowing costs to spur growth.

Canada has a raw materials based economy... As such, they have experienced greater inflationary pressure than the U.S. and Europe... With that said, we appear to be heading into a 1970's type of Stagflation... Slow economy with rising inflation... The huge deficits will eventually force market interest rates upward... This could put further pressure on an already weakened economy...
