Robert, Vitas is nothing more than a distractionist. He's using nothing but boneheaded tactics, he knows this. He once had my respect. But his behavior in this debate has completely changed that. If he thinks he's being funny or serving a point--he's wrong.

Why am I doing what I'm doing? I think in my previous post to you I gave you a pretty good answer. But I noticed Just Observing made a statement that echoes my own beliefs. So I'll reprint his statement in juxtraposition to my response to you in my previous post.

To disdain your fears and his absurdity, I will answer Vitas' question, this being the first time I've seen it.

No I am not a member of the communist nor socialist party. Never have been, nor will I be. I say right on to the those who invented and invested into the hoola hoop, the pet rock and to those who work in the diners serving French Toast. I play the stock market, used to be a position trader when the IPO market was hot. It's not now, so I'm pretty much on the sidelines, except for a couple of longshots.

I'm the kind of person who roots for the little guy and I like it in football when the backup quarterback comes in to run the plays. I root for him. Except for the salary he drew, I sympathize for Bill Buckner.

I firmly believe in small business. I know big business has to exist but I hate seeing it go the way where America's corporate farm replaces the old Soviet Union's collective farm. I don't like seeing the small hardware store guys knocked out of business by Home Depot and Lowe's, etc.

Indeed, I have problems when the top five percent in this nation take in 60 percent of the wealth and then Bush gives 'em a huge tax break, this while state bugets everywhere are cutting back on much-needed services.

Call me what you want, Robert. But one thing I do know: I'm a good American and it's my preference that when people from other countries see our flag flying that they, too, take pride in it instead of hating it.
