Perhaps this is bigger picture than you guys want on this thread, but I'm seeing surprisingly little discussion of the nature of this rally. This *is* the Iraq resolution rally. People who think this is 1991 all over again wanted to wait til the last reasonable minute to buy before the resolution begins - what better time than two business days before the March 17 showdown. You don't know that it will be resolved, but it's the only real date that crowd has.

Obviously, I don't believe in the 1991 repeat scenario at all. The economic backdrop couldn't be more different (sheesh - back then the tech buildout hadn't even started - Internet-what? And all that home equity to tap and corporate debt to issue.) However, this rally should be given the respect it's due. Let's see how many fools there are who are going to play the 1991 repeat scenario, and more importantly see how much money they're going to throw at it.

Of course, there could also be an element of rate-cut anticipation to this as well, since AG still has a bullet or two left.
