Is this possibly related to the mad cow case in Canada? US has suspended beef imports from Canada, and this will ratchet-up food security fears here. (As if we need more ratcheting.) I don't think that surebeam or other irradiation process would prevent transmission of mad cow disease, but I'm no expert.
