I refinanced yesterday and paid 1.875 points to get 4 3/8% on a 15 year mortgage. There were no point options, but paying points to lower the rate made sense for the longer term that we plan to keep the house and land. Paying points makes no sense if you plan to keep the house less than four-five years.
