NEW YORK -- Optimism created by strong economic data crushed Treasury prices Thursday, the selling once again exacerbated by technically-driven mortgage market participants.

As we've previously discussed, the budget deficit is also putting pressure on interest rates... As the gov't borrows more it has to increase the supply of debt paper... Increasing supply brings down bond prices and inversely pushes up interest rates... Good 'ole supply and demand strikes again... : >
