A Pirates Color
In the year 1751, a pirate ship was cruising the open seas off the coast of England, when without notice the ships scout yells out, "There's a English ship on the horizon."
Immediately, the crew looks to the captain, who boldly orders, "Bring me my red shirt."
The captain slips into the shirt and the British ship commences it's attack.
The pirates fight valiantly, and crush the british attackers very easily.
A few days later, the scout again yells, "There are three English ships on the horizon."
Immediately, the crew looks to the captain, and again he demands, "Bring me my red shirt."
Minutes later, the English ships begin their attack. Against unbelievable odds, the pirates are able to fight off all three attacking ships.
After the battle is over, one of the mates reluctantly approaches the captain and asks, "Sir, why do you keep asking for your red shirt?"
The captain replies, "I wear a red shirt so if I am injured in battle, you will not see my blood, and you will continue to fight till the very end".
The crew is in total awe from his words.
Almost a week later, the scout yells out one more time, "There are ten English ships on the horizon."
The crew again looks to the captain, awaiting his direction and request for his traditional red shirt.
Now silent for a moment, the captain says, "Bring me my brown trousers." |
