There are people on the left who critique cuts to aid to the elderly or children or for controlling air pollution with hysterical, inappropriate language like "they want to starve the elderly" or "they want to poison the air (I've never seen it, but I'm taking your word for it that there are actually people who say that's what the right "wants" to do, rather than that certain political, economic or environmental policies may tend have that effect; certainly sylverster 80, I think his name is, and Raymond Duray, are capable of using such hateful rhetoric.)
But what has that to do with the ludicrous proposal that liberals are "belittlers," while conservatives are not?
As a generality, it's hard for me to believe you don't notice more hate speech on the right than on the left. CHECK OUT CONSERVATIVE TALK RADIO (which is the vast majority of talk radio.) "Liberal scum," "vermin," "If guns are outlawed, how are we supposed to kill the liberals?," "traitors," "murderers," "vile," "idiots," "America-haters"...
I've been called a murderer on SI for believing that the government's business shouldn't be to force continued gestation on an American woman who is in the first trimester of an unwanted pregnancy.
Here are two quotes from the GWB thread just from the last couple of days, found by doing a search for "vile":
"The soul of the dem party is rotten and vile. It's just that simple." Thomas Watson
"I know that makes you liberal abortion lovers heads spin and teeth gnash, but so what, who cares what you vile people think" -- PROLIFE
Treason, traitor, traitorous are common adjectives used against liberals on SI and elsewhere. So are scum, vile, murderers, etc.
Check out liberalscum.com. It's a bit belittling, I'd say.

Remember, Michael. I didn't post to complain about belittling. I posted to complain about the attribution of "going down the belittling path" to liberals, with the implication that, shall we call it, "belittling," wasn't extreme on the right.
P.S. I just saw an example of the "want" syndrome you mention! -- in this case he uses the words "would rather":
