Do you kiwis have to worry about the blood rushing to your heads, being as you all are standing upside down on the bottom of the globe and all? Just a thought.
I was going to copy a post from the Cree thread over in semis, but it appears that you have found it. On AOL the info is that Nichia is shipping more LEDs in one month than Cree ships in a quarter. The Nichia LED is not only brighter, it is available. (And 3X as pricey). AOL shorts claim that HP may also come out with a blue LED. There was a story a while back about a possible deal to provide Westinghouse with power transistors made of SiC, but that's in the future. Nobody has a blue laser yet. This one may be more pipe dream than blue light special. I'm long but unhappy about it.
Maybe you all should take a look at Affymetrix, AFFX. This one makes the GeneChip, a bizarre hybrid of microchips and DNA, truly weird if not GOOFI. There is a good article on the company in the archives of the famous science/financial journal Wired. I believe you can find it at www.hotwired.com; I haven't put the hex on this one by buying it yet, so it may still have hope. Stop me before I kill again.
Later GOOFI dudes. J Fred
