I share your bewilderment. Today's action was especially interesting.
The stock tanked in the last 8 minutes of trading. At 3:52, WFR was
trading at 35 7/8. By the close it was 35 3/8. There were 13 trades
made during this period with none larger than 2500 shares. The total
number of shares traded was only 16,900 during the last 8 minutes.
Intel remained steady at the end of the day and the Semiconductor
Index rose slightly. It appears that some people are anxious to push
the stock down. I thought it might be options related but did not
notice any unusual option trades made today. After the last earnings
release, it took a few days before the stock took off. I expect the
same thing to happen this time with the stock moving sharply higher
within the next few days.
