"You want a guy who has committed himself to prosecuting what appears to be a new Vietnam to actually be able to do it? And do you want a leftover '60s peacenik as CIC?"

I don't understand your first sentence here. (Word missing?) As for your second, you, like myself, believe Afghanistan to have been necessary and Iraq to have been a mistake. Meanwhile, Kerry earned the right (more than most!) to question the Vietnam war. So in a sense, you are complaining that he and you share similar concerns about wars that overreached the intent of the American people.

No matter the progress in this war or the outcome of the election, Bush has already squandered the goodwill of the our allies after 9/11. The Iraqi invasion has served as the recruitment campaign of OBL's dreams. I agree with your suspicions about how Bush and crew talked themselves into this war. There is no defense for Saddam, but unless we are now prepared to follow up by being the unwanted agent of regime change in two dozen other place (that have no oil), the Bushies motivation rings hollow. Yet with the types of weapons that can now be assembled on a kitchen table, the world is too small for all this cowboy shit.

Kerry will have an easier exit strategy than Bush does...he has someone to blame. God help us and the next generation regardless.

(As for your dilemma in the voting box, go for the unknown unknown over the known unknown...or there is always the write-in slot!)
