So let me see if I get your point. Human rights advocates should just shut up about Americans sodomizing prisoners, because the only alternative is to kill them on the battlefield,

Whoa! I said no such thing.
You misread my meaning.
And by the way, I am a strong supporter of Human Rights Watch (even though I disagree with some of their positions) and have worked voluntarily on several of their projects. I have supported one of their recent efforts with significant donations and over 4,000 hours of personal volunteer time in the past three years. I am walking the walk.

My effort here is not to be pro-war. (I do, however, think war is inevitable.) I am pro doing what is best for American servicemen and women. I am also pro caring for those abused by war. For the past 20 years, I have carefully placed my money and my effort to support my beliefs. Why do that? Because I have first-hand knowledge of the ugliness of war as an endeavor. War is not an internet debate to me. The level of human suffering created by war is nearly beyond comprehension. It sorely needs to be addressed in as many ways as possible.

I have clearly stated quite often that I oppose war. Let me clear about the rest of your charges. I certainly oppose murder, sodomy and the mistreatment of prisoners.

I am on an ugliness kick right now. I was addressing the brutality of life and death and other ugliness in war. My point was that most seem to be able to accept or at least ignore battlefield killing while they vehemently oppose other war ugliness. Presently, it certainly appears that way to me . I have been attempting to point that out in many of my recent posts.

Your outburst may be a sign that I am finally getting some to look at the full range of war's brutality and ugliness.

I expanded on that here...
