Something that's very similar to 1987 is the trade deficit may start ballooning and depress the dollar. Asian economies are devaluing their currencies. Japan is in recession again. Weakening dollar trips bond market.

The 49er's bottomed in 1995 and are supposed to crest in 2010. The 25er's crested in 1988 and were supposed to mean end of consumption boom. That was the gist of the thesis as presented to me two years ago.
