Am I the only one who thinks this potential (increasing by the hour) cat 4 or 5 mega-catastophe hurricane Message 20470888 (on top of cat 3 Charley) may end up being a key defining economic event for the whole real estate and financial bubble? $50 billion in damage will leave somebody holding the bag. Reinsurance companies? Message 20466108 Message 20461692 Casualty insurers? Credit insurance companies? Underrinsured property owners? Lenders? State government?Deriviative counterparties? All of the above? Florida real estate is going to lose it's appeal with these ripped up beaches and towns. Just leaving might be an option for some. There is likely to be some major land use law changes rendering some areas undevelopable? Another round of last resort state hazard insurance?
