Why did you misinterpret what I said so wildly and make such a fuss about it?

Other posters knew exactly what I was talking about:

What is happening here is that you feel threatened by my questioning the value of our relationship with Israel, so you drag all this other stuff into it and engage in various and sundry attacks on my character.

The relationship of the U.S. to Israel is a very valid subject, given:

(1) the popular Arab concept that the U.S. is a puppet of Israel, resulting in tremendous resentment against the U.S. for no good reason;
(2) the enormous amounts of money we have provided Israel to build up its military;
(3) repeated instances of Israel spying on the U.S.;
(4) allegations that Israel took advantage of the first gulf war to steal U.S. military technology;
(5) allegations that Israel is selling military technology to China against our wishes;
(6) the many major players in the defense department with very strong ties to Israel.

I think it is quite logical that, given all these factors, one might wonder "What exactly is it that the U.S. is getting out of this deal?"

You find that question quite threatening, but that won't stop me from asking it.
