Technology Investor: Huls is the largest supplier of Silanes and Silicone compounds after Dow Corning and are recognized expert in organosilicon chemistry. You can call their US Office at 908-980-6971 for availability of silanes and chlorosilanes, the raw material for polysilicon. Another big source used to be Union Carbide, but they may have sold their western US facilities during the split of Praxair from UK.

Just read your last post, I think that the sand/CHCl(3) process was replaced by direct pyrolization of of mostly dichlorosilanes (SiH(2)Cl(2), and various mixtures of silane and chlorosilanes. Yes it is an electricity extenssive process. The sand process always left too high a residual oxygen level in the silicon which in todays wafer is a no/no.
