I agree with you 100% Haq. I think the compromise worked out between Kech and I (above) is a good one. Having said that we should never minimize the strong beliefs of others like the Christian right but when wrong they should be challenged and defeated. Mike

PS Rove built a model to achieve electoral results thru a shrunken tent led by religous right. He barely won in 2000 and did better in 2004 because of Kerry and swift boat hatchet job. With the iraqi war not going well, with christian cons trying to impose their view on the rest of us, either with stem cells or the nuke option in congress, that tent has now shrunk to a size that may cost the republicans congress and ultimately the presidency. Truth be told if the election was held tomorrow and the same americans who voted in november had to go back and vote, kerry would likely win, warts and all. There is no give in Bush. He took his so called mandate and squandered political capital on a failed SS initiative, same old, same old in Iraq, nuke option in congress, and fealty to all things the religious right stands for. He won a majority and now governs as a minority president. So much for karl roves genius. The REAGAN folks had it right.
