1)America Offline's churn rate is now up to 50%. More cancel after free trial without buying even a month. - That number is going down, according to WSJ. 2)America Offline's subscriber loss is coming from their heaviest users. Ominous. - You don't expect everybody pays $3000 per year. But the majority will choose to stay. For those who leave, they are unlikely willing to pay any other services neither, nothing to lose. Still more and more people who are willing to pay will choose AOL. Internet is really too poorly organized. The average user wastes more than $3000 per year by looking at dated web pages. 3)America Offline will only be giving members a 30-60 CENT credit for their outage. Crisis management consultants quoted find this insulting and likely to spark a backlash. AOL will post a message a week or two weeks later saying thank-you to all its users, and telling anyone that no apparent backlask. Also its stock holders stand firm, price drop is due to short sell, a messsage from AOL will wipe out all "short profit" 4)Smith Barney analyst slashes through the accounting veil and states that any profits reported during the last two years are a financial fiction - close to $300 million in deferred marketing costs - more than wipe them out. AOL is a billion dollar company, it grows so fast and I am pretty sure that will make a lot of people jealous. 5)Management was not truthful about the firing of the president. I am impressed by its efficiency, if you can do it, we do it.
