Re WNWG Utah Uinta Basin oil sands: I have read that this is a nogo due to lower quality than Alberta plus limited availability of water. However, as I creep up the learning curve (Thanks largely to your excellent board) I keep feeling that we need to pay more attention to oil sands technology. Maybe Petrobank THAI or some solvent process would be better than SAGD or surface mining and need little water or NG either. Right now I don't know. But we keep hearing about technology coming to the rescue in oil, but a lot of technology is also appearing in oil sands development. A lot is probably explained in the links at the beginning "Moderator's Statement" on this board. When Deer Creek hit, I/we may not have had time to go to school. Maybe it's time to take the time.
