Well, I think wafer making is quite a bit more complicated than Chemistry 101 .... It is a challenge to meet the tight specifications required for modern semiconductor manufacturing. Those things need to be ultraflat, ultraclean and ultracontrolled in terms of composition. That is no easy at all and requires experience, experience, experience !!! For that reason semiconductor manufacturers require a difficult qualification procedure before the use wafers from a new source. And do not forget that there is a shortage of the raw material for the wafers, the poly-Si. THEREFORE ACCESS FOR NEW PLAYERS INTO THE WAFER MARKET IS NOT EASY AT ALL.
WFR therefore is definitely in a good position for the near future.
