I see Canada's trade surplus up $1bn over estimates, so the high Loonie doesn't seem to be affecting trade, but we know that surplus is mainly commodities and not manufactured goods.

Does Dodge dare close the rate gap with the US? That 75bp could be a death knell for the Eastern manufacturers, and then look for Ottawa to start thinking about Alberta's oil.

I'd be careful in thinking Canada is markedly safer than the Us in this area.
