To argue that a country is not becomeing more prosperous because its costs are going up because its currency is appreciating is absurd.

i have given you as clear an argument as you are going to see. only somebody with less than 6th grade math could fail to understand it.

do not try to twist my words and say i am talking about the country. my example relates to the operational profitability of an individual company.

when it comes to the country, obviously a foreign investor in their locally denominated bonds will hope their currency is strong. this is exactly my current hope with my Brazilian real bonds, and was my past hope when i held bonds from Canada, Australia, NZ, UK, and EU. but the individual exporting companies in these countries don't benefit from a strong currency. this is why manufacturers in the US, who either export or compete domestically with importers, always complain when USD is strong. this is also precisely why the Asian mercantilist countries are always and forever trying to cheapen their own currencies and prop up USD.
