James, I don't want to get too political here :0)

Iran has a similar problem developing as Indonesia is already experiencing. They will in the not too distant future become net oil importers. Despite the current looney they have in power the population is very different from Arab countries and has a much more secular bent IMO. They have a valid point in that they will need another source of energy... Hard call now though considering who they presently have in charge.. Religion and politics are dangerous bedfellows... Their 'sworn' enemies are just as much the Sunni Muslims as anyone else.. which only exacerbates the already long standing ethnic clashes they've had with the Arabs..
I wonder if they long for the days of Xerces and Darius :O)

Edit and yes Indonesia is also a great poster child for the separation of Church and State...
