The state’s SHRIMP industry already was in a slump because of cheap foreign imports flooding the U.S. market. Foreign companies have captuRED 88% of the total U.S. market for SHRIMP, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service.

Mish likes Red Lobster but seems to be upset about red lobster frozen shrimp like I am.

I have posted many times on the queues here in the red lobster line. Much of red lobsters stuff at my local red lobster is fresh - freshly frozen - HAHA. If you live in a coastal fla city you can perhaps find a local dig that gets seafood fresh from the local market - the taste seems to be much better to me - perhaps it is a psychological effect. I think this particular red lobster gets its stuff from thailand - Darden restaurants claim they buy all the supply of the local market then go overseas to purchase what the local markets cant deliver. I know this is not true for my area though, the local shrimp guys have lots of shrimp not bought by darden restaurants.

This article talks about an ad campaign where florida shrimp guys were showing commercials where the fresh local wild shrimp were better than the foreign imported shrimp that Darden uses. It may vary from restaurant to restaurant, but the red lobster near me tastes terrible compared to the local guys buying fresh shrimp from the local market. The local guys told me who they buy from, I was able to go out to the boats that catch that stuff and see where my food is coming from - Red Lobster told me it came from thailand - frozen :(

Have you talked to your local red lobster to find out where they get thier shrimp and other seafood from? I assume you want TASTE above atmosphere - my sister wants to be fashionable and trendy - taste be damned.

My christian redneck friends protested red lobster when it came to town - hehe:

I select a place because of its combination of good food and reasonable prices for the service.

I see, perhaps I am wrong, but every yankee and canadian I have taken over to the local places with fresh shrimp wind up liking that shrimp better than the frozen imported stuff from our local red lobster. They dont have to wait hours in line for that red lobster stuff either. Imagine that, for cheaper they get something fresher and better tasting than red lobster!!

Mish was using his personal lifestyle to evaluate or corroborate his view of inflation and challenged posters to give contrasting experiences. I have provided my own in that light.

I know Timba, you and I in fla don't have wegmans outside our front door like Grace - but she assures me that is a sign people are rich all over. It is hard to think globally when most of our experiences are very local.
