First off, the mac will be slightly to more expensive, from the prices I've seen, than similar PCs.

"Just for the hell of it, I wandered over to Gateway (Dell isn't selling 15" Duo yet) and decked out a laptop to entry-level McBook standard. Impossible to account adequately for iLife, so I tossed a copy of Adobe Elements in there and called it a wash. Bottom line: as predicted, the McBook prices out to within $100 of the equivalent Gateway hardware."

Secondly, how will you be able to read and write your Window's files when running in OS X?

You won't.

Dual boot has always been a PITA. Virtual PC or VMware-type of option would be 100 times better.

Agree 100%. But from the "switchers" POV, forget emulation at the beginning. Many of them simply want to run pure XP, and if they wish to "play" with Apple, they can boot into it. The fact emulation is a slicker solution for a user will dawn on them later. :-)
